Restaurant Life

Years of working as a bartender and waitress left an indelible mark on me and my creative process. The daily preparation of working in a high stress, chaotic environment encouraged my need to find order and simplicity. There is a sense of peace in setting up for a busy shift. Getting everything ready and in it’s place for the inevitable chaos is one of the few things that you can control while working in a restaurant. Likewise, there is no better feeling than breaking down your station at the end of a shift. As the last call is given, you clean your tables, push in the chairs, restock the bar, count the money and go home. The last wipe down of the bar top is the final exhale.
